In 2022, AstraZeneca Russia and Eurasia launched a project to replace its global CRM system with a local solution named NOVA to ensure business continuity. The company engaged external technology partners to implement the platform, which was designed to manage healthcare professional interactions and data.
The rollout included a mobile application developed throughout 2023. By the fourth quarter of 2023, an MVP was tested by 120 employees, followed by a full-scale deployment to 1,200 users by the end of the year. In early 2024, the company fully transitioned to NOVA, with specialized functionality added for 200 medical advisors.
The platform has integrated various corporate services, including call centers and external healthcare professional databases. In 2025, the ecosystem was migrated to local infrastructure. The project received a BPM project award in 2024 and was named Project of the Year in 2025.
By 2026, the company established two internal development teams for the CRM and one for event automation. Current efforts focus on AI-driven tools, such as the AIRIS digital assistant, intelligent visit scheduling, and document processing, while aiming to transition to bi-weekly software release cycles.
