Mercedes-AMG is developing a new simulated sound system for its upcoming high-performance electric vehicles, including the AMG GT SUV and the GT four-door coupe. The system, known as AMGForce Sport+, aims to replicate the sensation of traditional internal combustion engines in electric models.

The company plans to differentiate sound profiles based on vehicle trim levels. The entry-level GT 53 model, equipped with dual motors and 536 horsepower, will feature a simulated inline-six engine sound. Higher-tier models, specifically the GT 55 and GT 63, will exclusively offer a simulated V8 engine sound.

The GT 55 and GT 63 models are rated at 805 horsepower and 1153 horsepower, respectively. Mercedes-AMG stated that this strategy is intended to maintain the brand's traditional product hierarchy, where the 53 series is associated with six-cylinder engines and the 55 and 63 series are linked to V8 performance.

The decision has sparked discussion regarding the implementation of these features. Critics point out that since the simulated sound is based on digital audio files and software code, there is theoretically no significant hardware cost associated with offering different sound profiles across the entire lineup.
