Mercedes-Benz continues to see strong market demand for coupe-style SUVs. Christoph Starzynski, Vice President of Product Strategy and Planning, stated that these vehicles maintain a loyal customer base due to their combination of interior space and sporty driving dynamics.
Earlier reports from 2024 by Handelsblatt suggested that Mercedes-Benz might discontinue its coupe SUV lineup, specifically mentioning the GLC and GLE models. However, the company has confirmed the return of the 2027 GLE coupe SUV, which will be available in multiple configurations ranging from the entry-level GLE 350 to the high-performance AMG 53 and AMG 63 variants.
Mercedes-Benz is not alone in maintaining this segment. Other manufacturers, including Audi, BMW, and Porsche, continue to offer coupe versions of their popular SUV models. Audi currently sells the Q5 Sportback and Q8, while Porsche offers coupe variants across nearly its entire Cayenne lineup, including electric versions.
