Brandon Stirrup, a business strategy manager at Xbox, confirmed the company is actively exploring artificial intelligence in game development. He demonstrated a prototype project he completed over a single weekend, noting that he had no prior experience in game design.

The development process took approximately three hours of active work. Stirrup utilized Unreal Engine and MCP to build the sample. He shared a screen recording showing an AI agent performing continuous testing, observing results, and making iterative adjustments to the game environment.

Stirrup suggested that simple prompts could facilitate game creation, estimating that a small team working for a year could produce a significantly larger project. He clarified that this was an experimental test and does not reflect the costs or quality of a full commercial release.

The manager highlighted that some industry leaders avoid discussing AI due to negative public sentiment. He expressed a desire for more transparency within Xbox, noting that while repetitive tasks are easier to automate, replacing creative roles like storytelling or art remains controversial.

Stirrup emphasized that his demonstration represents his personal initiative rather than an official Microsoft policy. He stated he is willing to face potential backlash for speaking openly about the internal use of AI tools in game production.
