The Trump administration is set to announce over $1 billion in private-sector commitments for the Genesis Mission during a White House summit on October 7, 2026. Major industry players, including AMD, OpenAI, and Anthropic, are expected to provide computing resources and infrastructure support to advance federal scientific research.
Additionally, a new firm called National Compute plans to unveil $100 million in compute credits. The company is developing the National Compute Grid, a platform designed to pool computing capacity for researchers. This initiative aims to address hardware limitations faced by smaller laboratories and independent scientists.
The Genesis Mission was established on November 24, 2025, via Executive Order 14363. Its primary objective is to create an integrated AI platform utilizing federal datasets to accelerate breakthroughs in fields such as biotechnology, nuclear energy, fusion, and quantum science.
As of July 2026, the program has already allocated more than $5 billion across over 15 federal agencies to support 278 AI-driven projects. The initiative represents a shift in federal funding, moving away from a traditional university-centric model toward direct support for individual researchers and smaller labs.
