Visa, BILL, and Billtrust have launched a live pilot program in Las Vegas to automate B2B invoice payments using AI agents. The system allows agents to settle supplier invoices without requiring manual logins or verification steps.

The infrastructure relies on Visa’s Trusted Agent Protocol, which enables portals to verify the legitimacy of AI agents. BILL provides the AI payment agent, which utilizes tokenized credentials to replace sensitive account numbers, ensuring secure transactions.

Billtrust manages the supplier side of the process, authenticating suppliers through its portals. The pilot connects BILL’s customer base of nearly 500,000 businesses with suppliers using Billtrust platforms, with payments governed by buyer-approved controls.

As of October 2026, BILL has exceeded $2 trillion in cumulative payment volume and processes approximately $1 billion daily. During fiscal year 2026, the company identified $1.5 billion in unusual or mistaken payments.
