Tesla is preparing updates for its Full Self-Driving system to address issues with pothole avoidance and navigation errors. Phil Duan, director of AI development at Tesla, stated that improvements for these features are currently in progress.

The pothole avoidance feature was initially mentioned alongside the FSD 14.3 version in early April. Six months later, it has not yet been included in official release notes. The system currently struggles with both potholes and significant road surface irregularities.

Navigation remains a challenge as the system occasionally selects inefficient routes or suggests maneuvers that violate local traffic regulations. Other persistent limitations include speed management and lane positioning, which prevent the transition from supervised to fully autonomous operation.

Tesla has previously introduced features such as Preferred Routes and Automatic Navigation as part of a summer update. While the company continues to expand system capabilities, it has not provided a specific timeline for the release of the upcoming fixes.
