Tesla has unveiled a new concept version of the Roadster, featuring a design inspired by the Cybertruck and Lamborghini Reventon. The vehicle incorporates steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, and throttle-by-wire technologies, with a braking system supplied by Brembo. The car also includes an adjustable rear spoiler for dynamic downforce and integrated suction fans.
The vehicle utilizes 10 cold-gas thrusters powered by two 600-liter onboard tanks to perform aerial maneuvers. According to the company, these thrusters allow the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 0.81 seconds. The system, developed in collaboration with SpaceX, uses atmospheric air that can be replenished while driving.
Tesla has announced three trim levels for the model: Performance, Thrust, and Rocket. The Performance trim requires a deposit of $50,000, while the Thrust trim, capable of the sub-1-second acceleration, is priced at $250,000. The Rocket version is a single-seat variant available by invitation only.
Despite the demonstration, Tesla has not disclosed technical specifications such as battery capacity, horsepower, motor configuration, or range. The company has confirmed that production of the vehicle is scheduled to begin in 2028. Details regarding existing reservation holders and order fulfillment remain unannounced.
