Tesla has officially launched the Grok Bot assistant for vehicles in North America. The system allows drivers to manage emails, handle calendar scheduling, and perform online shopping tasks entirely through voice commands while driving.
The integration expands Grok's capabilities beyond basic vehicle controls like navigation and climate settings. Users can activate the assistant via the app launcher, a long press on the steering wheel microphone button, or by using the wake word 'Hey, Grok'.
The system utilizes secure 'Connectors' to interface with third-party services such as Gmail and Google Calendar. For example, a dedicated shopping agent can access Amazon carts and process payments using saved credentials while the vehicle is in motion.
Early testing shows the assistant can coordinate with FSD to navigate to coffee shops, place orders, and handle payments. The feature is currently exclusive to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers, though Tesla plans to expand access to other tiers in future updates.
Tesla is currently developing SMS support and aims to further integrate Grok with FSD to create a more autonomous driving experience. While SMS is not yet available, the system currently supports voice-based phone calls.
