Construction of the Terafab semiconductor facility in Grimes County, Texas, is progressing rapidly. Recent drone footage captured by Joe Tegtmeyer shows that concrete foundations have been poured, and reinforcement bars are being prepared for subsequent sections. The site, located near the former Gibbons Creek coal power plant, continues to expand as land clearing operations move forward.
The Terafab project is a joint venture between Tesla and SpaceX, designed as a vertically integrated facility for AI chip production. The site will support the development of hardware for Tesla Optimus robots and Cybercab vehicles, as well as infrastructure for SpaceX orbital data centers. The main complex is expected to span over 900,000 square meters upon completion.
Financial projections for the first phase of the project exceed $16.8 billion. The initiative is expected to create approximately 3,000 jobs in the region. Recent site updates also confirm that Starlink antennas, previously installed on the premises, have been relocated to accommodate the ongoing construction work.
