Starlink has launched its satellite internet service on Asiana Airlines flights, offering passengers high-speed Wi-Fi for streaming, gaming, and browsing. This integration marks another expansion for Starlink in the aviation sector, where it is increasingly adopted by major global carriers.
Asiana Airlines, the second-largest carrier in South Korea, is currently a member of the Star Alliance. However, the airline is set to exit the alliance on December 16, 2026. By December 17, 2026, the brand will cease to exist as its assets and fleet are fully integrated into Korean Air, which also utilizes Starlink technology.
The adoption of Starlink is part of a broader industry trend. United Airlines is currently equipping its Boeing 777-200 long-haul fleet with the service, aiming to reach over 1,000 connected aircraft by the end of 2026. Meanwhile, Austrian Airlines plans to outfit 20 Airbus A320neo jets by the end of the 2026/27 winter season.
Southwest Airlines has also begun deploying Starlink across its fleet. Passengers can identify equipped aircraft through the airline's mobile application, which displays a specific 'WiFi Powered by Starlink' label for flights where the service is active.
