Waymo has officially opened its fully autonomous robotaxi service to the general public in San Antonio, San Diego, and Tampa. Residents and visitors in these cities can now download the Waymo application to hail rides for various purposes, including grocery trips, leisure activities, and travel to local landmarks.

The service expansion includes access to the San Antonio International Airport, allowing travelers to use autonomous vehicles for airport transfers. According to the company, hundreds of thousands of passengers have already utilized the robotaxi service in these three cities since the initial launch earlier this year.

Local officials and community leaders have highlighted the role of the service in regional mobility. In San Antonio, airport authorities noted the integration of autonomous transport as a key development for city infrastructure. Meanwhile, in San Diego, representatives from the seniors community emphasized the importance of self-driving technology for improving accessibility for older adults.
