Four Russian researchers affiliated with Yandex, Skoltech, and St. Petersburg State University have been ranked among the top 1% of global experts in artificial intelligence and image processing for 2025. The ranking is based on scientific publications and citation data compiled from the Scopus database.

The list includes Artem Babenko and Liudmila Prokhorenkova from Yandex Research, Evgeny Burnaev from Skoltech, and Sergey Nikolenko from the joint St. Petersburg State University and Yandex program. These researchers are recognized alongside international figures such as Geoffrey Hinton, Yann LeCun, Yoshua Bengio, and Ilya Sutskever.

Sergey Kuznetsov, also associated with Yandex, reached the top 1% in machine learning and data analysis based on career-long metrics. Additionally, Georgy Aizel from Yandex Weather was ranked in the top 2% for environmental sciences, highlighting the application of machine learning in climate research.

The Scopus-based methodology evaluates scholars using citation counts, the h-index, co-authorship data, and author order. The ranking tracks both annual performance and cumulative career impact, focusing on scientific citation metrics rather than qualitative assessments of research.
