OpenAI has launched the Rosalind Academic Plan, an initiative providing research laboratories with free access to the specialized GPT-Rosalind model. The program targets academic groups focused on life sciences, including fields such as genomics, medicinal chemistry, and biology.

Selected laboratories will receive up to 30 ChatGPT Business seats for a period of up to 12 months. In addition to the specialized model, participants gain access to the standard commercial suite of OpenAI models through the ChatGPT Business platform.

GPT-Rosalind integrates with the Rosalind Workbench environment. This setup coordinates the language model with specialized software tools designed for protein design and the management of laboratory experiments, allowing researchers to combine AI capabilities with existing scientific workflows.

Access to the program is subject to an approval process under a trusted access procedure. OpenAI aims to support fundamental research by enabling scientists to analyze biological processes and test hypotheses more efficiently through these AI-driven tools.
