Russian researchers have completed the primary technology development phase for the Sila synchrotron project. A 10-meter segment of the storage ring has been manufactured and assembled, marking a transition from component design to full-scale installation preparation.

The Sila complex, developed at the Logunov Institute of High Energy Physics, integrates a storage ring and a free-electron X-ray laser. Both systems will operate using a shared linear electron accelerator with an energy capacity of 6 GeV.

The facility will cover a total construction area exceeding 189,400 square meters. Scientists intend to utilize the synchrotron for research in biotechnology, nanotechnology, and materials science, with the facility scheduled for commissioning in 2033.
