Berlin-based startup Restate has raised $20 million in a Series A funding round led by Singular. The round included participation from Redpoint Ventures and Capital One Ventures, bringing the company's total funding to $27 million following a $7 million seed round in June 2024.
Founded by Apache Flink veterans, Restate provides infrastructure designed to make AI agents and distributed backend services fault-tolerant. The platform utilizes a single binary runtime to manage state and service communication, allowing developers to implement durable workflows using standard code.
The company is positioning its technology as a lightweight alternative to existing solutions like Temporal. Restate currently reports usage across hundreds of organizations, including Fortune 500 companies and major financial institutions.
The new capital will support product development and the company's expansion into the US market. As part of this growth strategy, Restate is opening a commercial hub in San Francisco.
