Reflection AI has released the weights for its Beam large language model on Hugging Face. The model, which features approximately 500 billion parameters, was trained over a two-month period using several thousand high-end graphics cards. The company utilized custom reliability algorithms to manage training, which helped minimize cluster downtime.
The release includes multiple versions of the model, including standard and quantized variants designed for improved hardware efficiency. Developers can also access training recipes and code templates for fine-tuning. Additionally, Reflection AI provided a drafter model to support speculative decoding, an approach aimed at reducing hardware requirements during inference.
To facilitate integration, the company included pre-configured settings for popular serving engines and fused kernels to accelerate inference processing. Reflection AI plans to release further training recipes in the coming days, specifically focusing on self-distillation techniques to improve output quality.
The company also intends to share technical insights gained during the development of Beam by contributing to various open-source AI tools. These resources are intended to assist developers in customizing the algorithm and measuring the impact of modifications on model safety and performance.
