London-based preventive health startup Emerald has secured £1.4 million in new funding, bringing its total capital raised to £2.9 million. The round included a £700 000 grant from Innovate UK and an equal amount from venture capital firms, including Boost Capital Partners, Sequel, and Highgoal Capital.
Founded in 2024 by Alexander Badalyan, Anton Shchipanov, and Dr. Dan McNally, the company initially planned to launch a credit card before pivoting to health services. Emerald provides blood screenings and a digital platform that integrates test results with wearable data and medical history, offering access to general practitioners for diagnosis and referrals.
The startup is registered with the Care Quality Commission and holds UK Conformity Assessed Class I medical device status. Emerald reports a tenfold increase in membership since early 2026 and has conducted over 100 000 laboratory tests. The service is currently offered through employee benefits platforms, including partnerships with Pluxee, Epassi, and Yonder.
The new capital will support commercial expansion, product development, and clinical services. The grant from Innovate UK is specifically allocated to advancing AI applications and core technology. As of January 2026, the company employed approximately 12 people.
