London-based surgical intelligence startup XRlabs has secured €7.48 million in a seed funding round. The investment was led by Palo Alto-based venture firm Playground Global, with participation from Eka Ventures.

The company, founded in 2024 by neurosurgeon Dr. Ali Haddad, develops device-agnostic software that integrates computer vision and deep learning with existing surgical systems. Its platform has been used in over 100 surgical cases across three continents.

The core product suite consists of XRlabs SIM, a tool for creating 3D digital twins from medical imaging, and SurgicalOS, an intraoperative intelligence layer. These systems are designed to provide real-time, anatomy-aware data during procedures.

Alongside the funding, Omar Ishrak, former CEO and Chairman of Medtronic and former Intel board chair, has been appointed as Chair of the Board of Directors. The company also received a compute allocation on the UK AI Research Resource.

XRlabs plans to use the new capital to expand its engineering and clinical teams, advance regulatory approvals in the UK, Europe, and the US, and grow its global clinical evidence base.
