Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang visited Astana on October 23, 2026, to discuss the potential for Kazakhstan to become a major AI computing hub for Europe. During a discussion at the alem.ai International Artificial Intelligence Center, Huang identified the country's abundant energy, data connectivity, and computational capacity as key assets.
State operator Kazakhtelecom currently utilizes 400 Nvidia H200 and 480 B300 GPUs. Future infrastructure plans include the deployment of 1,000 Nvidia Vera Rubin chips in the Ekibastuz region and the development of the Data Center Valley project, which aims for an initial power capacity of 125 MW with a potential expansion to 1 GW.
The Data Center Valley project expects $10 billion in investment from commercial partners, including Firebird. Additionally, Kazakhstan has secured US approval to import 45,000 Nvidia GB300 Blackwell Ultra GPUs and is currently seeking authorization for approximately 65,000 additional units.
These developments are part of a 2026 initiative led by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to enhance the nation's digital and AI infrastructure. Investors are monitoring the progress of the Data Center Valley project, the procurement of additional chips, and the involvement of new commercial partners.
