Spanish energy tech startup Linkener has secured €7.5 million in a funding round led by Alantra’s energy transition fund, Klima. Existing investor GoHub Ventures, which first backed the company in 2019, also participated in the round. The capital will be used to scale product development, enhance proprietary AI models, and pursue strategic acquisitions to consolidate the fragmented energy software market.

Linkener’s core product, the Intelligent Energy Management System, integrates remote metering hardware with data analytics and AI. The platform currently manages over 10,000 energy supply points for more than 2,000 customers, representing an annual consumption of 1.7 TWh. The company plans to use new AI capabilities to automate invoice processing and generate cost-saving recommendations.

The firm intends to acquire companies with complementary technologies to integrate them into its existing platform. This strategy aims to modernize energy management practices that the company describes as outdated. Klima partner Iñigo Echaniz noted that the investment supports Linkener’s goal of becoming a leading technology platform through both organic growth and M&A activity.

The European energy software sector continues to attract significant investment. Recent deals include €6 million for Tibo Energy, €11 million for Capalo AI, and $20 million for Nomos. While industry benchmarks suggest energy service projects can deliver 20% to 30% in savings, Linkener’s specific performance metrics remain unaudited.
