Leapmotor unveiled its LEAP 5.0 vehicle architecture at the 2026 technical conference held on September 16. The company positions this platform as the industry's first architecture centered on the concept of a mobile living space, with the first vehicles based on this technology scheduled for release next year.

The new platform integrates several design changes to maximize interior volume. By utilizing an integrated air conditioning unit and a rear-mounted powertrain, the cabin space increases by 19% compared to the D19 model. Vertical space improvements include a 63.7% increase in cabin height and a 70mm reduction in floor height, while legroom grows by 37.5% through optimized shock absorber placement.

Leapmotor claims the architecture achieves over 100% space efficiency by reconfiguring the cabin layout. The platform also introduces a global first in high-low voltage energy management, which reduces static energy consumption by 36% and low-voltage losses by 10%, aiming for nearly 100% energy efficiency.

The architecture features a highly integrated thermal management system that reduces the total number of components. By placing the air conditioning unit externally, the design frees up space in the dashboard area while consolidating the compressor, refrigerant valves, and heat exchangers into a single unit.
