CATL has announced a significant leadership restructuring within its passenger vehicle division. Yang Jun, previously head of the battery swapping business and CEO of EVOGO, has been appointed as the co-president of the market system. He replaces Han Wei, who will now focus on the commercial vehicle sector. Additionally, Gao Huan, the CTO of the passenger vehicle division, will take over responsibilities previously managed by Wang Hui.

The appointment of Yang Jun signals a strategic push to integrate battery sales with the company's battery swapping infrastructure. Yang has been instrumental in transitioning the swapping system from a technical concept to a commercial reality. CATL founder and CEO Robin Zeng previously stated that battery swapping, home charging, and public charging stations are expected to share the market equally by 2030.

As of September 29, CATL has deployed over 2,520 battery swapping stations across 31 provinces and 200 cities, with nearly 20,000 batteries in operation. The company plans to expand this network to over 3,000 stations in 216 cities by the end of 2026. Long-term goals include the construction of 1,000 highway stations by 2027 and a total of 30,000 stations in the future.

The company continues to advance its technology, including the 800V-based Chocolate battery launched in April. These stations are designed to support both passenger vehicles and heavy-duty trucks, offering a 99-second battery swap time. The infrastructure is being scaled to ensure that users in core urban areas can locate a station within 10 minutes.
