Google is integrating its Gemini Personal Intelligence feature into vehicles, allowing the AI assistant to access user data from Gmail, Calendar, Maps, and YouTube. This update enables the system to provide context-aware responses based on personal schedules and email confirmations while driving.
The company launched Gemini for vehicles on April 30, 2026, initially supporting English in the US. General Motors is currently rolling out the assistant to approximately 4 million vehicles manufactured from 2022 onwards, with updates having commenced in 2026.
On October 16, 2026, Geely Holding announced a partnership to bring Google Automotive Services to its brands in markets outside China and the US. This rollout is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027, expanding Google's presence in international regions.
Google further enhanced the system on October 19, 2026, by deepening Gemini’s integration with Android Auto. These developments build upon the Android Automotive OS platform, which the company first introduced to the automotive sector in 2020.
