Google is enhancing its Gemini AI assistant for vehicles by introducing a new personal intelligence feature. This update allows the assistant to access data from Gmail, Google Calendar, YouTube, Maps, and Google Search history to provide context-aware responses based on user preferences and past activities.
The feature is rolling out in two formats: through Android Auto, which connects via a smartphone, and Google Built-in, which is integrated directly into vehicle software. Android Auto support begins immediately, while vehicles with Google Built-in will receive the update in the coming months.
Drivers must manually opt in to enable the service. Users retain control over their data and can toggle the feature on or off at any time. Additionally, they can selectively choose which specific Google applications the assistant is permitted to access.
With this integration, users can issue complex, multi-part requests using natural language. For example, a driver can ask for flight gate information and check for delays simultaneously. The system then processes these queries to provide consolidated answers.
