Google is integrating its Personal Intelligence feature into the Gemini AI assistant for Android Auto and vehicles with Google built-in. This update allows the AI to access user data from various Google services, including Gmail, Calendar, Maps, Photos, YouTube, and Search.
Users can now request information such as flight status based on confirmation emails or ask for navigation to specific locations like doctor appointments or places identified in saved photos. These personalized responses require the user to enable the Personal Intelligence setting and maintain an active connection between their phone and the vehicle.
The company notes that core functions such as navigation, music playback, and calls remain available without Personal Intelligence, though responses will not be customized. The feature is currently rolling out to Android Auto, with support for cars with Google built-in expected in the coming months.
Google introduced Gemini to Android Auto last year and expanded it to vehicles with Google built-in in April. Several manufacturers, including Ford, GM, Honda, Nissan, Volvo, and Polestar, have already integrated Google built-in into their newer vehicle models.
