Scaling industrial technologies requires extensive testing beyond initial pilots. Companies like NOVATEK, TMK, RUSAL, and Gazprom Neft adapt designs, materials, and processes to overcome operational challenges encountered during full-scale implementation.

NOVATEK launched its fourth LNG line in May 2021 using the proprietary Arctic Cascade process. Despite meeting initial operational requirements, the company reported equipment quality issues, leading to extended monitoring and adjustments throughout different climate seasons.

TMK addressed geometry issues in gas pipeline pipes by modifying expander steps, reducing diameter fluctuations by 73%. Separately, the company optimized the production of 13Cr stainless steel casing pipes by switching to forged billets and improving tool durability, increasing throughput significantly.

RUSAL developed inert anodes for aluminum electrolysis to eliminate carbon dioxide emissions. Following years of testing alloy compositions and anode geometry, the company successfully launched an electrolyzer using inert anodes in November 2024, achieving 99.7% aluminum purity by August 2025.

Gazprom Neft implemented a new hydraulic fracturing method for mature wells using a dual-packer assembly. Following successful 2025 trials that more than doubled productivity, the company began widespread application of this technology in the Yugra fields in August 2026.
