European startups secured $25 billion in venture funding during the third quarter of 2026, marking the region's strongest performance in four years. This figure represents a 77% increase compared to the same period in 2025 and a slight rise from the $24 billion recorded in the second quarter of 2026.
Artificial intelligence companies were the primary drivers of this growth, accounting for 75% of total funding, or $18.8 billion. Four companies successfully raised rounds exceeding $1 billion, including Mistral, which secured $3.5 billion, and Nscale, which raised $3.36 billion through a convertible note.
The United Kingdom maintained its lead in total funding with $7.5 billion, while Germany and France followed with $5 billion and $4.8 billion, respectively. These results represent the strongest quarters for both Germany and France since the 2021–2022 period.
Late-stage deals dominated the landscape, attracting $17.3 billion across 83 companies, which constitutes 70% of the total regional venture capital. Conversely, early-stage funding reached $5.7 billion, while seed-stage investments totaled approximately $2 billion across more than 750 companies.
