Apple has introduced the AirPods 5, available in two versions. The model with a wireless charging case is priced at $149, while the base version costs $129. Both models feature active noise cancellation, adaptive audio, and transparency mode, alongside IP57 water resistance.
The $149 variant includes a wireless charging case and touch-based volume controls on the stem, features absent in the base model. Apple claims the new internal acoustic architecture provides up to 50 percent better noise cancellation compared to the previous AirPods 4.
Battery performance has decreased compared to the previous generation. The AirPods 5 offer up to five hours of playback with ANC enabled, and the total battery life with the case is 22 hours. The base model provides up to four hours of playback and 20 hours with the case.
The earbuds support live translation when paired with an iPhone 15 Pro or later. Additionally, iOS 27 introduces a 3-band EQ for sound customization, which is also compatible with AirPods Pro 3 and AirPods Max 2. A five-minute charge in the case provides one hour of listening.
