Apple has launched a campaign titled Stay on Safari, aiming to encourage Mac users to switch from Google Chrome. The company claims that Safari offers up to five additional hours of video playback on a single charge compared to Chrome.
According to Apple, Safari loads frequently visited websites up to 35% faster than Chrome on macOS. These results were based on tests conducted on 15-inch MacBook Air laptops equipped with M5 processors and 16 GB of RAM, using 12 popular websites.
The company attributes these performance gains to the optimization of the WebKit engine specifically for its own hardware. Apple also highlights features such as Reader Mode, Apple Pay support, user profiles, and cross-device integration as key benefits of its browser.
Market data from StatCounter indicates that Chrome currently holds a 66.36% share of the browser market, while Safari accounts for 18.27%. Apple's initiative seeks to narrow this gap by emphasizing the efficiency of its native software.
