Anthropic released a report detailing shifts in its workforce structure and operational workflows over the past year. The company highlights that its internal changes serve as a case study for how artificial intelligence impacts labor demand and hiring patterns across the broader economy.
The company has significantly reduced hiring for entry-level positions. Since early 2025, the share of junior employees in the technical department dropped from 21% to 14%, while the proportion of new hires in junior technical roles fell from 27% to 9%.
The technical team's share of the total workforce decreased from 61% to 56%. Anthropic attributes this to business expansion and the use of coding tools that allow non-technical staff to develop software independently.
In an April 2026 survey, 27% of employees reported increased productivity using Claude, while 20% stated their role shifted from manual task execution to managing multiple Claude instances. The company noted that human attention and judgment have become the primary bottlenecks in production.
Despite increased output in code, sales orders, and contract processing, the company reported a 20% rise in average meeting duration per employee, with technical staff seeing a 16% increase. Anthropic attributes this to the ongoing necessity of face-to-face collaboration.
