The study evaluated the performance of four AI models—Nano Banana Pro, Grok Image 2, Qwen Image 3, and Seedream 5.0 Lite—in generating 3D game location concepts. The test involved creating ten distinct environments for a fantasy RPG with a low-poly aesthetic.
Nano Banana Pro and Grok Image 2 demonstrated high consistency in understanding spatial layout requirements. Qwen Image 3 showed potential but required more time to adapt to specific prompts, while Seedream 5.0 Lite prioritized speed over detail, often producing simplistic results.
The models exhibited distinct stylistic preferences. Grok Image 2 leaned toward darker palettes and detailed character inclusions, whereas Nano Banana Pro favored brighter, more saturated colors. Qwen Image 3 excelled in specific architectural tasks, such as designing an orcish headquarters.
The evaluation concluded that Grok Image 2 and Nano Banana Pro currently offer the most reliable outputs for game design prototyping. While Qwen Image 3 remains a viable tool with proper prompting, Seedream 5.0 Lite is limited by its budget-oriented performance.
