Xpeng has received official approval to conduct Level 4 autonomous driving trials for its Yoyo robotaxi service across Guangzhou. The company will initially grant access to the platform through invitation codes to ensure safety while testing real-world operations and commercial viability.

The robotaxi fleet is based on the flagship GX SUV and utilizes a vision-only system, omitting LiDAR and high-definition maps. Each vehicle is equipped with four in-house Turing AI chips providing 3,000 TOPS of computing power, managed by the VLA 2.0 large model.

The company established a dedicated robotaxi division in March and produced its first vehicle in May. By August, the fleet had completed over 2,000 internal test rides. CEO He Xiaopeng confirmed plans to launch passenger services without safety drivers by 2027.

Xpeng intends to scale its robotaxi business by partnering with domestic and international ride-hailing platforms. The company aims to generate revenue through a combination of vehicle sales, technology service fees, and profit sharing from operations in key cities globally.
