The new Li Auto i6 electric vehicle features a 96 kWh battery and an MPV design. While the vehicle has a CLTC-rated range of 780 km, a recent real-world test demonstrated a range of 811 km on a single charge. During this 18-hour drive near Lake Tai, the car maintained an energy consumption rate of 11.8 kWh per 100 km.
The test was conducted with four passengers, luggage, and 50 kg of additional equipment, with the air conditioning active throughout the journey. The vehicle operated in city conditions at speeds ranging from 40 to 80 km/h, with ambient temperatures between 13 and 20 degrees Celsius.
Li Auto has transitioned to in-house battery production, utilizing manufacturing support from CALB and Sunwoda. This change allows for an additional 3 kWh of cell capacity. Furthermore, the company integrated revised SiC power modules, which reportedly reduce operational losses and extend the winter driving range by 30 km.
The automaker is introducing the 5C-capable Lian Shan battery, which is expected to be integrated into the existing vehicle lineup. Li Auto has committed to the safety of these packs, pledging that they will not self-ignite or combust during collisions, and offering a replacement vehicle if such an incident occurs.
