XPeng Group CEO He Xiaopeng stated that developing humanoid robots is approximately 20 times more complex than building automobiles. The company manages the entire development cycle, including hardware, software, structural design, and supply chain management. The firm spent eight years on research and development before reaching the current stage.

XPeng Robotics recently closed its first funding round, securing over $900 million. The company has established its own AI hardware platform, which includes proprietary chips, controllers, motion modules, and dexterous manipulators. Currently, more than 80% of the core manufacturing processes for these robots are fully automated.

The company launched an automated production line where the first XPeng Iron humanoid robot, featuring 76 degrees of freedom, was assembled. Following the public debut of the Iron model in late 2025, the company plans to initiate serial production by the end of 2026, with full-scale manufacturing and deliveries scheduled for 2027.

He Xiaopeng expects significant performance improvements in robot capabilities starting from the fourth quarter of 2026 through the first and second quarters of 2027. The company previously cited the difficulty of establishing mass production as the primary reason for delaying the public showcase of its robotic developments.
