Xiaomi's technical committee innovation team unveiled the HachimoDock, an open-source AI desktop device, during the 2026 Guancha Conference. The project aims to lower the barrier for AI hardware development, allowing users to build their own units for approximately ¥150.
The device functions as a customizable desktop assistant that integrates with computer agents like Codex and WorkBuddy. Users can interact via voice commands to perform tasks such as file management, coding, and information retrieval, with the screen displaying real-time status updates through animations and sounds.
HachimoDock also serves as a smart home control hub by linking with Xiaomi Miloco. It can display device status, lighting controls, and camera feeds. Users can further expand functionality by generating and running custom components through AI collaboration.
The project is fully open-source, with software code, hardware bills of materials, structural models, and assembly tutorials now available on GitHub. Xiaomi encourages users to modify the hardware and software to create personalized desktop tools.
