The World project has introduced World ID for Banking and Finance, a suite of tools designed to combat AI-driven identity fraud and deepfakes in the financial sector. The product was announced by co-founder Alex Blania at the Money20/20 conference in Las Vegas on October 18.

The initiative addresses rising AI-related fraud, with Deloitte projecting losses in the US to climb from $12,3 billion in 2023 to $40 billion by 2027. Banks can use the system for account openings, branch visits, large transfer confirmations, and account recovery without storing additional personal data.

Current development partners include Bain Capital, OpenExchange, Outtake, Pantera Capital, and VanEck Funds. While the World network reports over 18 million verified Proof of Human users, no specific banks have implemented the service yet, and pricing remains undisclosed.

Simultaneously, World launched World ID for Zoom, available via the Zoom Marketplace. Users verify their identity via an Orb device and link their World ID to Zoom. During calls, the system compares live selfies with stored images, displaying a Human Badge if verification succeeds.

The Zoom integration processes video data only, excluding audio or transcriptions. Tools for Humanity, the developer behind World, has joined the Zoom ISV Exchange program, allowing corporate clients to deploy Orb devices directly in their offices for employee verification.
