An analysis of 14 consumer queries related to electronics in Moscow revealed that AI search engines, specifically Alice AI and Perplexity, rarely link to product detail pages. Out of 243 total links analyzed, only 10 directed users to specific product cards. The majority of traffic was directed to catalog sections, homepages, or informational pages.

Catalog sections proved to be the most effective, appearing in 10 out of 14 responses and receiving 69 links. These pages are prioritized by AI when a user searches for a category of goods rather than a specific item. Homepages and condition pages, such as those detailing delivery, warranty, or installment plans, also frequently appeared in search results.

Product cards were only triggered by two specific types of queries: searches for a single unique model, such as the Apple Vision Pro, or requests for real-time local availability. Alice AI provided 9 out of the 10 identified product card links, while Perplexity provided only one. Other queries, such as those regarding product authenticity, were dominated by media and review sites.

The study suggests that for SEO optimization in the era of AI search, businesses should prioritize structuring catalog sections and informational pages. These pages are better suited to answer broad user queries. Product cards should be treated as a secondary priority, as they are only relevant for highly specific, intent-driven searches.
