WhatsApp is introducing a new events feature that enables users to invite people who do not have the application installed. By generating a shareable link, organizers can allow external guests to view event details directly without needing to download the messenger.
The platform includes a new Events Home hub for managing invitations and RSVPs. Users can utilize this space to send custom reminders and configure options for guests to include a plus-one. The system also provides a centralized list of past and upcoming events accessible through the settings menu.
Privacy protections are integrated into the update, ensuring that phone numbers remain hidden from unknown guests. Furthermore, invitees who do not use WhatsApp will only gain access to the event address once they have submitted their RSVP.
The update is scheduled for a global rollout to all users over the coming weeks. This functionality positions the messenger as a competitor to existing event-planning platforms by removing the requirement for participants to have the app installed.
