Rainer Zietlow completed a world tour in a VW ID. Buzz, covering over 92,000 kilometers across 92 countries. The journey began on 1 July 2025 in Hanover and involved approximately 300 charging cycles under diverse climatic conditions.
Upon return, the vehicle underwent a technical inspection by TÜV Nord to verify its identity for Guinness World Records. Inspectors confirmed that all critical powertrain components remained in their original condition.
TÜV Nord assessed the high-voltage battery health using Onboard Car Diagnosis. After the 92,000-kilometer trip, the battery State of Health was measured at 95.75%. The organization monitored battery data throughout the journey.
Volkswagen previously initiated a global recall for 74,579 ID series vehicles and 19,452 Cupra Born units due to potential battery module deviations. The manufacturer is inspecting and replacing modules where necessary to mitigate fire risks.
Zietlow is scheduled to receive a Guinness World Record for visiting the most countries in an electric vehicle on 14 September at the IAA Transportation event in Hanover.
