Porsche is implementing a new corporate strategy titled Sportwagenschmiede 35, which aims to restore double-digit profit margins by 2035. The company reported a decline in profit margins from 18 percent three years ago to 1 percent last year. The plan focuses on prioritizing value over volume and increasing vehicle customization to drive higher selling prices.
As part of a broader restructuring effort by the Volkswagen Group, Porsche plans to reduce its workforce by 9,000 employees over the next decade. Despite these cuts, the automaker is expanding its lineup with several new models. These include an electric 718 Boxster/Cayman, a compact SUV arriving in 2028 with gasoline and plug-in options, and new additions to its high-margin luxury segments.
The newly unveiled Mission S concept serves as a platform for a future mid-engined supercar positioned above the 911. The vehicle features a design inspired by historical models like the 917, 928, 959, and GT1, while the interior draws from the 356 and 550 Spyder. Notably, the cabin lacks a central infotainment screen, opting instead for a MagSafe smartphone mounting point.
While technical details remain unconfirmed, the presence of exhaust pipes indicates an internal combustion engine. Industry speculation suggests the potential use of a flat-eight cylinder engine, possibly paired with the company's proprietary T-Hybrid electric system. The concept is intended as a permanent addition to the brand's portfolio rather than a limited-production hypercar.
