Volkswagen subsidiary Elli is shifting its business model to focus exclusively on digital services, including fleet management, charging cards, and energy management. The company will phase out its hardware division, including the production of Flexpole fast-charging stations and its proprietary AC wallboxes.

The strategic pivot aims to prioritize scalable, capital-efficient business areas. While existing hardware customers will continue to receive support and maintenance, Elli will cease accepting new orders for its own wallboxes. Future infrastructure projects will be managed by external partners.

Elli plans to expand its Mobility Service Provider business, integrating fuel and charging card services for mixed fleets. The company is also opening its digital solutions to third-party brands, with Porsche scheduled to adopt Elli’s MSP platform by 2027.

In the energy sector, Elli is prioritizing bidirectional charging, specifically Vehicle-to-Grid and Vehicle-to-Home applications. The company will partner with external hardware providers, such as EV-Tech, to support these services, targeting potential annual customer credits of up to €720.

The company is currently seeking external partners or investors to accelerate international scaling. This restructuring process, which involves negotiations regarding the future of its nearly 400 employees, is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
