Hyundai Motor India Limited plans to launch the Ioniq P, a dedicated mass-market electric vehicle, in the first quarter of 2027. The automaker confirmed the model name during its Q3 2026 earnings call, positioning the car as a strategic A-segment alternative to the Inster.
The vehicle is built on the E-GMP (K) platform and has undergone testing for nearly a year. Design features include flush-fitted door handles, Parametric Pixel lighting, and a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system running the Android Automotive Operating System.
Hyundai will initially import LFP battery cells from the Chinese supplier Svolt due to delays from its local partner, Exide Energy. The company intends to offer two battery pack options for the Ioniq P, though it has not yet disclosed any plans to export the model from India.
