Volkswagen has unveiled the ID.3 GTI, the second fully electric model to join its performance-focused GTI lineup. The vehicle is built on the MEB+ architecture and features a rear-wheel-drive configuration, a first for the GTI badge. It is powered by an APP550 electric motor delivering 240 kW and 545 Nm of torque, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds.

The car is equipped with a 79 kWh net capacity battery, providing a projected WLTP range of up to 601 km. Charging performance is rated at a maximum of 183 kW, with an estimated time of 29 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 percent. Volkswagen has capped the top speed at 200 km/h. The model includes adaptive chassis control and specific GTI suspension tuning.

Inside, the ID.3 GTI features a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The interior design incorporates traditional GTI elements, such as the 'Superclark' tartan seat pattern and red accents. New technology includes 'Connected Travel Assist' with traffic light recognition and a Vehicle-to-Load function for powering external devices.

The exterior design features 20-inch 'Wörthersee' alloy wheels and classic GTI styling cues, including a red stripe on the front and honeycomb grille elements. The vehicle will be available in five paint finishes. Volkswagen plans to officially launch the ID.3 GTI on the market in the first quarter of 2027, though pricing details have not yet been disclosed.
