The World Ultra HD Video Industry Alliance (UWA) has released the open-source reference tools for the Spatial Vivid 1.0 standard. The release includes the EGSC codec, a web renderer, and packaging tools, all distributed under the MIT license to developers worldwide.
The standard is designed for 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) scenarios, offering an average compression ratio of 20x. It aims to provide a unified foundation for the large-scale implementation of 3D spatial imagery, supporting six degrees of freedom.
Compatibility testing for the Web Viewer has been completed on mobile devices and tablets from Huawei, Honor, vivo, OPPO, Xiaomi, and Apple. The viewer functions within both system browsers and the WeChat built-in browser.
Performance evaluations conducted across seven devices showed file loading times of under 0.9 seconds, with some configurations achieving under 0.3 seconds. Rendering frame rates consistently exceeded 45 FPS, reaching up to 120 FPS in specific tests.
