Semiconductor startup Ubitium has secured $14 million in a seed funding round led by Ibex Investors. Other participants included OpenOcean, KBC Focus Fund, Runa Capital, Inflection, and Florian Seibel of Quantum Systems. This latest investment brings the company's total seed funding to $18 million since its establishment in 2024.
The company is developing a universal processor architecture designed for physical AI applications, such as robots, drones, and industrial equipment. The technology aims to consolidate signal processing, AI inference, and real-time control into a single chip. This approach replaces the need for multiple specialized processors, thereby reducing system complexity and data transfer requirements.
The startup's first chip, the UB108, was manufactured using Samsung's 8nm process and features 256 processing elements. It utilizes a reconfigurable array and RISC-V development tools. Ubitium is now working on its next commercial processor, the UB410, which will include 4,096 processing elements and target high-resolution radar and audio systems.
Ubitium plans to allocate the new capital toward the commercialization of the UB410 processor. The company expects to reach the tape-out stage and begin delivering evaluation units to customers in 2027.
