Düsseldorf-based semiconductor startup Ubitium has raised $14 million in a seed funding round led by Ibex Investors. The round included participation from OpenOcean, KBC Focus Fund, Runa Capital, Inflection, and Florian Seibel, co-CEO of Quantum Systems. This latest investment brings the company's total seed funding to $18 million since its founding in 2024.

Ubitium is developing a unified processor designed to handle perception, intelligence, and control tasks on a single chip. The architecture aims to replace the current fragmented approach, which relies on separate digital signal processors, neural processing units, and CPUs. The company’s technology is intended for physical AI applications, such as advanced radar and acoustic platforms.

The startup’s engineering team, led by CTO Martin Vorbach, holds over 250 combined patents. The company has already produced demonstration silicon, the UB108, built on Samsung’s 8nm node. Development is now focused on the flagship UB410 commercial chip, which will feature 4,096 processing elements. Client sampling for the new chip is scheduled for 2027.

CEO Hyun Shin Cho stated that the company aims to complement cloud infrastructure by consolidating processing tasks at the physical edge. While the startup declined to disclose its current valuation or client identities, it emphasized that its technology is already functional in silicon. The company operates out of Düsseldorf to leverage local engineering talent and industrial partnerships.
