Tomsk State University (TSU) won the national competition organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia. The university will receive a 5 ₽ million grant to establish a student design bureau focused on developing digital twins using the domestic LinQ AI accelerator.
The project, titled Digital Engineering and Supercomputer Modeling, is a collaboration with the company HiTech. The partnership began in 2025 with the launch of a joint AI laboratory. TSU is the first university to gain exclusive access to the LinQ HPS accelerator, which supports up to 960 TOPS.
The new bureau will open in autumn 2026 at the Institute of Big Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence. It will provide hundreds of students and schoolchildren with hands-on engineering experience. The facility will utilize the SKIF Cyberia supercomputer and existing AI labs to solve industrial tasks.
The bureau is intended to function as a testing center for Russian engineering software. Future plans include expanding laboratory spaces and attracting additional IT partners. Currently, there are approximately 560 student design bureaus operating across Russia.
