Former US President Donald Trump announced plans to officially ban the term artificial intelligence (AI) in all relevant documents and official communications. He intends to replace it with the term super intelligence (SI), arguing that the current terminology is inaccurate and fails to reflect the true capabilities of modern technologies.

The policy was formalized through an executive order signed on September 29. The directive mandates that all federal executive departments and agencies adopt the term SI in place of AI. The administration claims that modern systems have evolved beyond mere imitation of human intelligence and now represent a new era of super intelligence.

The US Department of Justice has already issued internal instructions to its staff, requiring the use of the term super intelligence in all official contexts, including court documents. Despite these directives, major US media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, continue to use the term artificial intelligence, explicitly criticizing the proposed change in terminology.
