A user reports an issue with the hosting provider Timeweb regarding a prepaid annual VDS subscription. The user paid 14 040 ₽ on April 14 for a server with 2 CPU, 2 GB RAM, and 25 GB HDD, expecting a fixed price for one year.
Six months later, the provider announced the decommissioning of the Moscow cluster. Customers were offered either to migrate to the Netherlands at the original price or to remain in Moscow with a price increase from 1 120 ₽ to 3 280 ₽ per month.
The provider's support team explained that the annual payment does not guarantee a fixed service period or price. Instead, it represents a balance top-up with a 10% discount, where funds are deducted hourly based on current rates.
Following the infrastructure changes, the user's prepaid service period was reduced from April 15, 2027, to January 4, 2027. The user intends to switch to a different hosting provider.
